Locating Defibrillators: A Guide for Finding Life-Saving Devices

A defibrillator is a device that helps restart a person's heart when it stops beating normally. If someone's heart is beating dangerously fast or irregularly, the defibrillator sends an electric shock to the heart to try to make it beat normally again.

These devices can be found in public places or used by doctors, and they can save lives during emergencies like a heart attack.

There is a website you can find a defibrillator nearest to where you are .

The video below from the British Heart Foundation shows you what a defibrillator is, and how to use it.

If you manage a defibrillator, please ensure it is registered on the website The Circuit - the national defibrillator network. This website is the national defibrillator network used by all 14 ambulance services across the UK. It helps ambulance services quickly find the closest defibrillator when a 999 call is made for a cardiac arrest.
